'Beds are Burning' brings celebrities together in support of TckTckTck and climate justice

Today we are excited to launch our global campaign song, a re-mix of the mega-hit "Beds are Burning", recorded by over 60 artists and celebrities, and re-written by Midnight Oil themselves to reflect the greatest humanitarian crisis facing humankind today - climate change.

Watch the song here or on YouTube, and be among the first on the planet to see it. Or, you can download it for free here, or at the Apple iTunes store (not available in all regions). Every download counts as part of our TckTckTck campaign to let our world leaders know the world is ready for an ambitious, fair, and binding climate deal in Copenhagen this December. As far as we know this is the world's first global musical petition!

The song was driven by one of the co-founders of the TckTckTck campaign, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's new organization, the Global Humanitarian Forum, and their partners global advertising giant Havas Worldwide and their film production arm, The:Hours.

The song has been supported by over 60 international music stars and celebrities including Duran Duran, Mark Ronson, Jamie Cullum, Melanie Laurent, Marion Cotillard, Milla Jovovich, Fergie, Lily Allen, Manu Katche, Bob Geldof, Youssou N’Dour, Yannick Noah and many more.

Mr Annan said: “Climate change is the greatest humanitarian challenge facing mankind today. And it is a challenge that has a grave injustice at its heart. It is the major developed economies of the world which contribute the overwhelming majority of global greenhouse emissions. But it is the poorer and least developed nations that are hit hardest by its impact. By downloading the song, people from around the world will add their names to this growing global petition, and together we will create such a noise our leaders will listen".

Help us make this song huge and reach new people with the messages of TckTckTck! To help, you can:

But most of all, please sign our "I am ready" pledge so we can keep you connected with the rest of the amazing campaign plans we have cooking up here!

Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion.

Goal : First and last, the purpose of Blog Action Day is to create a discussion. We ask bloggers to take a single day out of their schedule and focus it on an important issue.

By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue.

Out of this discussion naturally flow ideas, advice, plans, and action. In 2007 on the theme of the Environment, we saw bloggers running environmental experiments, detailing innovative ideas on creating sustainable practices, and focusing their audience's attention on organizations and companies promoting green agendas. In 2008 we covered the theme of Poverty, and similarly focused the blogging community's energies around discussing the wide breadth of the issue from many perspectives and identifying innovative and unexpected solutions. This year we aim to do the same for Climate Change, an issue that threatens us all.

How you can help : From the smallest online journals to huge online magazines, Blog Action Day is about mass participation. Anyone is free to join in on Blog Action Day and there is no limit on the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions.
